How to analyze the current leaderboards and meta to create a team that will dominate in the Arena.

Step by step guide
To understand how to beat the leaderboard it is important to understand and analyze the “meta”. The “meta” is the current dominant strategy used by the community. Metas can shift from season to season as the game updates and new strategies evolve so it is necessary to track these shifts. The easiest way to see the current meta is checking the leaderboard and seeing which Cards and Runes are most prevalent in the Top 50 teams. You can check the Axie Origins leaderboard at https://axies.io/leaderboard. In Season 6, the most dominant Team Comps revolved around Feathers, Bubbles, Sandal or Bleed.
When picking a Team Comp you should always have Auto Wins - matchups against team comps where you will win 70+% of the time. The rest of your matchups against the meta Team Comps should be 50/50 and you should have very few Auto Losses. It may be okay to have an Auto Loss against a Team Comp that is not very popular. For example, in Season 6, poison comps were not played by many people at the top of the leaderboard.
Spamandrice’s previous Feather Build had a weakness against Bleed builds. This is because with Feather builds there are so many actions per turn each of which damage your Axies when played. To counteract this he decided to change his Feather Spear build into an AOE build for his winning Final Era comp. This allowed him to free up a horn slot by using two Wing Horns instead of three Feather Spears.
To increase the consistency of getting to 10 feathers on turn 2, spam optimized the build with card draw options in Pink Cheek or Early Bird, as well as using Lucas to reuse cards from the discard pile or reordering the draw pile placing the best card at the top of the deck.
When theory crafting which comps will play best against the meta, spam also considers the rarity of the build. He searches the marketplace for his desired parts to see how rare it is. To place very high on the leaderboard you need to look for these rarer axies so that other players don’t have access to the same advantages you have. This will give you the edge that you need.
Finally, when considering candidates for the midliner carry, spam filters the marketplace for axies with 13 Bird Potential Points. This allows him to use multiple Bird’s Energy Drink charms to generate Feathers much faster.
Try theory crafting for yourself to compose a winning team in the Arena. Reach at least Boar Rank IV and win 4 battles to progress to the next quest.
