This guide is for ascending and evolving Personal Axies. Starter axies are evolved via a different in-game mechanic. In order to evolve your Personal Axie’s parts you will need three things:

1. AXP to level up your axies
2. Momentos
3. AXS


Materials

Axies level up with AXP. AXP can be earned by playing Axie Infinity games with different daily caps set per Axie, per game. Take a look at the chart below to see how much AXP you can earn in each game. In Axie Origins you can earn up to 1,500 times the Axies level per day. (Eg. A level 4 axie can earn up to 6,000 AXP per day.)

The max level for an axie is level 60. Every 10 levels you can ascend your Axie and upgrade a part. To ascend you will need to navigate to [“Manage My Axies”](https://app.axieinfinity.com) and sign a transaction with your wallet.

In order to upgrade your first axie part you will need 100 Momentos of the same class as the part you are trying to upgrade. For each successive part on an Axie you will need an increased number of Momentos to evolve. After you pay the material cost it will take 4 days to evolve the part. You can choose to evolve a part instantly by using twice the number of Momentos.

There are two ways to obtain Momentos: The [marketplace](https://app.axieinfinity.com/marketplace/materials) or by releasing Axies. When you release an Axie it will be gone from your inventory and will never be available on the marketplace again.

The type of Momentos earned when releasing, is determined by the classes of its 6 parts and the number of Momentos you can earn is determined by the level and breed count of the Axie. For an estimate of which Momentos you will receive you can click on ‘Release’ on the Axie you would like to let go.


Momentos

Kendama is a new tool to sweep the marketplace floor and bulk-buy axies. This will help you target Axies with a higher breed count so that you can catch and release to farm Momentos.

The chart below shows the estimated number of materials you will get when you release an axie. As you can see, an axie with 7 breed count gives over 10x more materials than a 0 breed count axie.

Kendama can also help you [visualize](https://kendama.vercel.app/axie-stage-preview) evolved axies. Input your axie’s id and click search. You can then toggle on and off the evolved parts to see what they will look like.

To ascend your Axie, head to its page from “Manage My Axies” on [app.axieinfinity](https://app.axieinfinity.com) and click ascend. This ascension will increase that axie’s level cap, increase its daily cap for using cocochoco, and allow you to choose one part to evolve. You will need to approve your AXS and sign the Ronin transaction to complete the process.


Ascension

Once you have ascended, [app.axieinfinity](https://app.axieinfinity.com) will show you that you have a part evolution available. Choose the part you would like to evolve and then decide if you want to instantly evolve or wait 96 hours (4 days). To evolve the part instantly you will need twice the amount of Momentos.

If you are evolving a collectible axie, you will need an extra rare material called Radiant Spirit Shells. These can be purchased on the marketplace or there is a chance to obtain them in Lucky Pouches in the Garuda Shrine Shop.


Evolution

In order to progress to level 3, earn AXP for a Personal Axie by jumping into the Arena Mode in Origins and winning 15 matches.
